Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate how group music activities had the effect of improving their interpersonal relationship ability and quality of life for chronic schizophrenia. The subjects of this study were 54 people who agreed to participate in the study among the users of mental rehabilitation facilities in the S area, of which 31 were the experimental group and 23 were the control group. The experimental group participated in 12 sessions of music activities consisting of 45 minutes per session. The test tool used the interpersonal Relationship Change Scale (RCS) to measure interpersonal relations skills and the Quality Of Life Scale (Happy-QOL) to measure quality of life. Both treatment group and control group were assessed before the experiment and after the experiment. The research results are as follows. First, the test group's relationship ability score increased significantly in all sub-items compared to the control group. Second, the quality of life score of the experimental group was significantly increased in all sub-items compared to the control group. These findings suggest that music activity has a significant effect on the interpersonal relations ability and quality of life of chronic schizophrenia.
